People have asked us "Which one of you guys is Joe?" Well... None of us. There's no "Pink" in Pink Floyd, no "Lynyrd" in Lynyrd Skynyrd and no "Joe" in Joe Friday.
We wanted a name that's fun, familiar and easy to remember.
Our name changed 4 times in the first month tryin' to find something good!
Russ, our bass player,
filled four sheets of paper with ideas and, finally, Joe Friday stuck out.
Friday makes sense, of course, being a prime party night.
Also, Joe Friday, seen at left, was a character in the old TV series "Dragnet."
Joe was a, pretty stiff and reserved Sergeant in the LA police department.
Aspiring to be just the opposite as a band, we thought the contrast
was pretty funny... Plus, the name is familiar without being a total rip-off.
Joe Friday is probably copyrighted by the producers of Dragnet...
I guess if we ever
become famous, that's a problem we could solve!
Little worry of that right now. We're havin' a blast playing for our friends
right here in Sacra-demento.

There's a new Joe Friday on the block!! With the re-release of Dragnet,
Al Bundy has matured into a tough crime fighter. Let's cronical the evolution...
Al was a simple man who liked to boogie. This was long ago, so his boogie days were mostly Saturday Night Fever style. Hey... It was hip back then! Al was also often spotted in the local gentlemen's clubs, when his paycheck allowed...

Al was never truly happy and so began his transformation. But the evolution was not straight forward. Instead, Al began to show signs of more militant behavior. His life sucked... His job sucked... Early militia interests eventually lead to service in the reserves.

Al soon had his sights set on law enforcment starting out as a lowly security guard. From there, however, the path was set. Al changed his name to Joe Friday and worked his way up to detective. He's a proud man. A brave man. And dammit, he's inspired us to be the best rock 'n' roll cover band there is!
